Suite spot.
5 star hotel feel, luxurious, 1950’s influenced, display artwork, objects, books, creating a sense of calm.
To create a calm feel in a small space, we introduced a mirrored wall at one end of the living room, positioning shelves across the long wall, with the television opposite. As you enter the apartment, you see through into the items on display and as the resident is watching television, they are facing a simpler elevation with lightly geometric wallpaper, with enough texture to liven the wall as the sun shines through the window. A glazed door with beveled glass panels creates a shimmering moment as the residents pass by. The artwork is positioned to maximise the sense of space, playing with light and texture flowing into the rest of the apartment, elevating it to meet the client's brief.
To measure the carbon footprint of the project, we worked with ‘20-50 Materials’ who made an assessment based on the items used on the project; finishes, FF&E, lighting, taking into consideration the use of antique pieces, and wall covering drapery. Following the assessment Freeman Studio selected a project with ‘Gold Standard’ and purchased carbon credits to cover double the amount incurred by the project planting biodiverse forests in Panama.
Whilst the purchase of carbon credits is not the final solution it is part of our journey to contribute where we can, raise awareness and start conversations on the subject.
